Doesn’t the thought of spring always include a visual of a bunny?  Who is ready for spring?   I am and my mind is already considering decorating for my favorite season!  Without knowing it, I have acquired a small collection of bunnies, some purchased and some craftily created.  Maybe these will inspire you to create a spring mantel display, a spring sideboard display or tablescape.

DIY Moss Covered Bunny

A couple of years ago, I made this Moss Covered Bunny.Adorable Easter Bunny Ideas You Need To Try Now! #MossCoveredBunny #EasterCraft #Easter #Spring #EasterBunny   The bunny was made from one of those papier mâché bunny forms you can find at the local craft store and a bag of moss.  A bottle of glue, some scissors, and in no time, you’ll have your own moss covered bunny!  Creating one of these is truly quick and easy!  You can find instructions for making your own by clicking here.  ►Moss Covered Bunny.

DIY Tin Foil Bunny

I noticed this little papier mâché bunny, which was marked down to less than two dollars, at the fabric store and decided to try a tin foil technique.  I remembered seeing a pin from the year before showing how to add tin foil to eggs, antiquing them with black paint, and ending up with a really neat vintage look.   You can find directions for making your own here.►  Tin Foil Bunny.

These little pansy violas were at the local garden center and I couldn’t resist!  Then, I remembered this little bunny vase.  So, once the roots were wrapped in plastic wrap, one of the plants was easily tucked in the vase.  Aidan commented that the bunny looked like he was smelling the flowers.

Spray Paint A Ceramic Bunny

This little bunny is 42 years old.  He was created in the ceramic shop on the Naval Communication Station in Adak, Alaska, where we were stationed.  (Dave and I made several things in that shop.)  Okay, the paint job is not very good.  Either the bunny needed to be a brighter pink or that egg needed to be toned down some!  It just never seemed quite right.   Those colors just never fit with the rest of our decor.  Antiquing might have helped but that never happened in all of these years.

So, I saw this Krylon paint that is brown with a gloss finish, which someone had used to paint a ceramic bunny.  Doesn’t the paint lid resemble chocolate?   Do you have an ugly bunny that could use this paint?  (We are an Amazon affiliate and may receive a small percentage of any sales through this link.  Thanks for supporting this website.)

This little ceramic bunny came to mind.  A fresh coat of chocolate paint and he will look adorable!  Won’t he?  Maybe I’ll tie a little ribbon bow around his neck…

Now, I just have to wait for a warmer day!  It’s in the 30’s here in Kentucky right now!  Thirty degrees and spray paint are not a good match.  Come on spring!

Bunny Spring Mantel Ideas

This off-white pair of bunnies was found at Hobby Lobby.  I love them.  The nest between the two of them holds three eggs covered with tissue paper stamped with ‘StazOn’ ink.  The tissue paper was from Old Time Pottery.  Believe it or not, they wrapped purchases in colorful tissue papers and I saved them!  The papers were too pretty to throw in the trash.  They’re perfect for these antique looking eggs!  To see how these were made, click here►DIY Easter Eggs.Adorable Easter Bunny Ideas You Need To Try Now! #DecoupagedEggs #EasterEggs #DIYEasterEggs #EasterCraft

 Bunny In A Sideboard Display

One year, a couple of bunnies sat among fresh daffodils from the gardens.  The basket tray was a nice way to contain the entire composition with the spring elements and it sits beneath an oil painting of tulips, one of my oil paintings.  The tulips in the picture are a perfect companion for this spring vignette.

Another year, a round metal tray and potted flowers were used in the arrangement along with the two bunnies.  The color scheme was set by the teapot.  The color of the foil the pot was wrapped in did not match the colors of the teapot.  So, wrap a couple of napkins in pale yellow and lavender, pull the napkins up around the pot of hydrangea, secure with a large rubber band, and problem solved.

Notice the runner on the sideboard?  I made that many years ago.  It is made from muslin.  White cotton thread was used to create a design on the unbleached muslin by embroidering colonial and French knots on top of a lightly transferred design.  This is called candlewicking.   I love the simplicity of the white on white.

Bunny In The Grass Table Decoration

It’s easy to add a bunny or two to a spring arrangement, isn’t it?  So, how about these little bunnies?  They come three in a package and they were found at Hobby Lobby.

Remember the Oui French Yogurt glass containers in my last post?  (I’m still saving them!)  My plan is to plant rye or wheat seed in some sand in the yogurt jars a couple of weeks before Easter.  Then, tie a ribbon around the top of the jar and place one of these in the grass for each place setting.  How adorable is that?  (Pictures later!)

Papier-Mâché Bunny

Right now, I’m working on a papiermâché bunny.  He doesn’t look like much, as you can see in the picture, but check back for the finished product and a detailed ‘how to’.  I’ve only just begun!

  1. Hi. I don’t find Part 3 – Papier Mâché Bunny. I’m interested in making one and am interested in the finished look. I just subscribed today.

    1. Judith, apparently, I didn’t finish that post! Yikes. I know the next step is painting the entire bunny with a primer. I usually use a Kilz brand primer. Give me a couple of days and I’ll retrieve the little guy and write the rest of the directions. He reminds me of the Velveteen rabbit.
