Personalizing Your Favor Tags

A blank space was left at the bottom of the tag for you to add a name.  If you are adding your own name, you will want to do that now.   First, click on ‘Text’ and choose a typeface.  Then click on add text.  A text box will appear.  Type your text and move it to where you want it.  If you are using two different sizes of text, use two different text boxes.  The text we used for this was Rochester.

If you want to try different typefaces, all you have to do is choose a font, type your text, highlight it, and then click on each of the fonts you want to try.  You can use the back button at the bottom of the page to view all the ones you just tried.  I love this feature.

The alignment menu is found at the bottom of the screen.  Click on the icon and an ‘Alignment’ menu will come up.  It makes it easier to align text and other elements you might use.

When you have the tag exactly the way you want it, just click ‘Export’.  You can then save it to whatever file you choose.

How To Add Multiples For Printing

Next, you will want to add multiples of the tag to a page to make printing easier and more economical.  Click on the X on the far right corner of the PicMonkey screen to take you back to the Menu.  There, you will want to choose the icon for ‘Design’.

Then click on apply for the canvas color.  Leave it white.  The paper I used for printing is a manilla or ivory color, which gives the background color.

Now, the 8 x 10 canvas will come up and you can begin adding tags to the blank canvas.

Click on the butterfly icon on the left side of the screen and at the very top on the left side, the word Overlays will appear.  Right under the word Overlays will be an option for ‘Add Your Own’.  Click on that and the drop-down menu will give you options.  Choose ‘My Computer’.

Now, choose the file and click on the downloaded tag you saved.

The tag will be too big when it comes up and you will have to grab the corner and resize it to fit within one of the alignment rectangles.  When you have the size you want, right-click on the tag.  The menu above will come up and you need to click on ‘Duplicate overlay’.  The exact sizes duplicate will appear.  Continue duplicating and lining up the tag until you have 12 duplicate favor tags.

Using the Alignment feature will help you do this nicely.  However, if you try to position the tags in a row and it doesn’t seem to let you put it right next to the tag, click the alignment menu ‘Off’.  Once you have the row organized and lined up as you want it, you can click the alignment menu back ‘On’.

Originally, I placed four tags in rows horizontally and four vertically.  When I printed them, the edges did not print.  So, I revised it and only positioned three rows of the tags.  Space was left between the rows to make it easier to cut out the tags.

Cutting and Finishing The Favor Tags

Export the tags when you have the tags as you want them and save them in your choice of files.  Print the tags and cut around each favor tag.  I use a metal straight edge and an X-Acto knife.  You could also use scissors or a paper-cutter.

After trimming the tags, use a 1/8″ paper hole punch to make a small hole at the top of the tag.  A 1/4″ paper hole punch would be too big!  You can see the tags ended up being roughly 2-1/2″ x 2″.  (We are an Amazon affiliate and may receive a small percentage of any sales at no cost to you.  Thanks for supporting the website!)

*I made a little template on a plain piece of paper cut the same size as the tag.  It made punching the holes much faster and easier.

Use a thin string or heavy thread cut to an eight-inch length.  Pull the two ends together and thread through the hole you punched.  Bring the ends back up over the top of the tag and thread through the folded loop of string.  Now, it’s ready for your S’more bags!
