Although visiting West Baden, Indiana any time throughout the year is enjoyable, being able to see the Christmas decor this time of the year is the best. We visited West Baden Springs Hotel and French Lick a few years ago during the first days of October. Seeing the Christmas decorations in the West Baden Springs Hotel has been on my bucket list for a few years now and finally, Dave and I set a day aside to make the drive to West Baden.
Getting away from cleaning, decorating, wrapping, and shopping for Christmas seems a good idea even though there is still so much to do. Sometimes you just need to escape for a little while. You’ll come back refreshed with new ideas.
The West Baden Springs Hotel Christmas Tree
This over 40 foot tall Christmas tree in the West Baden Springs Hotel is the top sight on my list. The tree set against the backdrop of the dome is stunning. Underneath the mass of velvety poinsettias and huge Christmas decorations is a faux Christmas tree. The greenery of the tree is barely visible.
Nestled among the poinsettias are old-world inspired angels. You can see the reflection of the dome in the round ornament!

Santa Figurines On Display
You know I love Santa figurines. Well, around the perimeter of the room a multitude of Santa figures stand and peer back into the center of the room.
Don’t you love the Santa with fur added to his clothes?
Some of these Santa figures stand atop a pedestal giving them a taller stature and a little more importance. There’s an idea for your home decorating… Give one or more of your Santa figures more importance by setting him on a pedestal.
Santa Inspiration
A few years ago, I bought a Santa at the mall. He was not that grand but he was deeply discounted at the after Christmas sale. My plan to completely reinvent him has still not happened! Last year, I disrobed him, bought some fabrics to class him up a bit, and still have not finished him! The rich burgundy velvet and faux fur are sure to make a stunning figure. Using the original costume as a pattern, it should be simple enough.
These Santa figures on display have given me some more inspiration and if all goes well, after Christmas, he will receive a much needed revamp. Do you have a Santa in need of a makeover, too?
West Baden Hotel Toy Soldiers
Toy soldiers stand at attention all around the huge Christmas tree. The decorations might seem a bit understated but the dome is still the stunning focal point and it is amazingly beautiful.
Inside The West Baden Hotel
When you check-in at the desk in the lobby of the West Baden Hotel, you will undoubtedly be struck by this view of the beautiful domed ceiling. Some greenery and gold bows festoon the walls this Christmas season.
Several sets of stained glass doors should catch your attention in the lobby, too. Each is a different design.
What a grand hotel this is. I love this place! If you have a chance to visit, you definitely should. If you can’t make it this year, be sure to put it on your calendar for next year!
