Adding votives to the Halloween tablescape prompted this black lace votive idea. You’ve seen lots of white lace votives for weddings. Well, the main theme this year includes silver bedazzled skeletons and skulls. These DIY Halloween lace candle holders continue the chic glamourous feel of the Halloween decorations this year.

Glass Yogurt Jar Votive Candle Holders
You Will Need
- Clear glass yogurt jars
- Black lace (or white lace and black Krylon satin spray paint)
- Adhesive Diamond wrap (from Dollar Tree)
- Tacky glue
- Small sharp scissors
If you visited my blog, you know I love Oui yogurt jars. The yogurt jars are the perfect size for these black lace votives. First off, you will need some clean clear glass yogurt jars.

And then, you will need black lace. Alright, I have lots of lace in my stash but very little black lace. I could run to the fabric store, but I have black paint. Have I told you that I love Krylon Color Master Paint and Primer? This paint is great for metal, wood, plastic, and more. It actually works great for the lace used in this project. I especially like this paint because it dries very quickly. It is definitely my favorite brand.
Wrap the lace around the jar and cut leaving about an inch or an inch and a half excess lace.
Lay the lace out in a cardboard box, on plastic, or on a sheet of cardboard to protect your grass. Be sure you paint outside! It takes a few coats of spray to get good coverage.
Flip the lace over. You can see the difference in the picture after flipping the lace over. The backside is pretty white. You have to paint the backside, too.
Gluing The Lace to the Candle Holders
Once the painted lace is dry, dot glue down the center of the backside of the lace.
Then, line up the edge of the lace along the lower edge of the rim.
Holding the lace in place, lift one side and continue dotting glue onto the opaque areas of the lace. Stop gluing about an inch before the end of the lace. Repeat on the other side.
These Oui yogurt jars are slightly smaller at the top than they are at the bottom. The lace won’t lie perfectly along the rim where the two pieces come together in the back. That’s okay. The trim will cover it.
Then, using small sharp scissors ◄ like these, cut the ends of the lace so they butt together or slightly overlap. I also trim some of the lace along the bottom edge where it is a little longer where the two edges butt together.
Continue dotting glue on both ends of the lace to secure the ends to the glass jar.
Attach The Rhinestone Trim
The rhinestone trim I bought from the dollar store has an adhesive strip on it. It is easy to just attach it to the jar with the adhesive strip.
Yes, and then the next morning, the ring of rhinestones sat at the bottom of the jar. In other words, it will not hold to the lace for an extended period of time.
So, I dotted glue onto the adhesive tape on the back of the rhinestones and reapplied to the top of the jar. That works. You can just as easily remove the adhesive strip and just dot glue onto the rhinestone backs.
Use Tealight Candles in the Lace Candle Holders

Next, place a tealight inside the lace candle holder and light it! Isn’t this pretty? You can just as easily make your version white, ivory, pink, blue, or whatever color you like! If you can’t find lace in your color, remember there is a vast selection of paint colors and this method is quick and easy.
►Flameless tealights are also available on Amazon.
