When I saw some farmhouse Christmas Ornaments on Pinterest, I knew this was a project everyone would love. The Farmhouse decor is huge now, especially black and white. My first thought was how my oldest daughter, Danielle, would love these, so I made some.

Supplies Needed for Farmhouse Christmas Ornaments
- White Christmas Ball Ornaments
- Wooden Christmas Snowflake Ornaments
- Knob Transfer Sheet
- Black and White Gingham Ribbon
- Scissors
- Krylon Acrylic Spray Paint Crystal Clear
How To Make Farmhouse Christmas Ornaments
First, you will need plain white Christmas balls. The ornaments I bought for this project are shatterproof. You can also use glass ornaments. These were in a large container with red ornaments. There are 10 of each style in this container from Hobby Lobby.
Next, take out the farmhouse transfer sheet. These are actually made for transferring onto drawer knobs but they can be applied to a variety of objects. These should not be applied to freshly painted objects though. Make sure to allow at least 48 hours and up to a week for the paint to dry. Notice that the transfer has two sheets. One is the matte release paper. The other contains the printed adhesive transfer. With these transfers, a wood application tool is included. The tool is used to rub the design onto the chosen surface.
How To Add The Farmhouse Transfer
Cut out your choice of transfer designs and lift the protective matte release paper from the design. Be careful to keep your fingers away from the design on the sticky side!
Carefully, position the transfer onto the ball ornament. These balls have two slight ridges where the two halves are glued together. You’ll want to center the transfer between those slight ridges.
Starting in the middle of the transfer, rub gently with your fingertips to adhere the design to the ball. Rub from the middle to the top, from the middle to each side, and from the middle to the bottom.
Then, on top of the protective sheet, use the wood applicator, and gently rub the design onto the ball. Lastly, carefully remove the protective backer sheet.
Just to be safe, it is probably a good idea to spray a protective coat on top of the transfer. I used Rust-Oleum Clear Durable Topcoat – Semi-Gloss. You can use that or another like ► Krylon Acrylic Spray Paint Crystal Clear.
How To Make Wooden Snowflake Farmhouse Christmas Ornaments
This snowflake ornament is even easier than the ball ornament! First, apply one or two coats of thinned-down white acrylic paint. Allow the paint to dry.
Using a little piece of a paper bag, ‘sand‘ over the painted surface. This smooths the painted wood. Next, gently lay the transfer in the center of the snowflake. Rub the transfer with your fingertips. Then, use the wooden tool provided to rub over the protective sheet. Gently, remove the protective backer sheet. Pull up the corner and make sure the design has transferred. If not, lay it back down and rub it again. Use Rust-Oleum Clear Durable Topcoat – Semi-Gloss or another like ► Krylon Acrylic Spray Paint Crystal Clear to spray a light protective coat.
Aside from hanging on the Christmas tree, these are perfect for adding to your Christmas table settings as a cute take-home gift. Are these the cutest, or what?

I love how you’ve used these farmhouse transfers, Debra! I’ve used them on wooden furniture knobs and still have several in my stash. They look so pretty as ornaments and I especially love them on the snowflakes too!
It’s funny that it is so simple, Marie! Yes, I really like the snowflakes, too.
Such a great idea for DIY ornaments.
