Who doesn’t need some decorating ideas for a beautiful fall mantel display? As Thanksgiving approaches, this mantel takes shape. You probably love scouring Pinterest for mantel ideas as I do. Often, there is an idea there that inspires my creations. Hopefully, this one inspires you!
Remember the Halloween mantel display? The bead garland was inspired by a Pinterest pin. I love the off-center draping. The wooden beads covered with silver spray paint echoed the silver skull and pumpkins.

This fall mantel display began with an autumn arch found at Michael’s at the end of summer. It gives height and pattern, yet the aged white paint is a pleasing neutral that will go with anything. At the same time, I picked up the ‘Autumn leaves’ plaque in anticipation of this mantel display. These two pieces are placed in the center of the mantel. (You can find a similar arch here. ◄)
Next, I remembered two white lanterns we have. Retrieving them from the basement, I place them on either end of the mantel. The lantern tops echo the shape of the center arch and the white color.
Adding Fall Colors
The bins of pumpkins, sunflowers, leaves, and gourds in all of the bright fall colors come next. The larger pumpkins find a place on either side of the arch and plaque next to the lanterns. It also seems to need a candleholder and the orange pillar candle repeats the color of the pumpkins…
Smaller pumpkins and gourds fill in around the base pieces and the larger pumpkins. The small wreath at the top of the arch is actually a candle ring. As I looked at the candle and the white arch behind it, it seemed to need something.
Then I spotted it. The candle ring with the fall colors peaked out from under some tissue paper. Hanging on the arch, it adds some more fall color and texture. It looks like a tiny wreath, doesn’t it?
The little stems of tiny orange flowers tucked in around the pumpkins, gourds, and base pieces are just enough to add some more fall color and texture.
Adding Fall Color To The Lanterns
My original intention was to create a floral spray on top of each lantern. If you follow this blog, you know my style is not over the top ostentatious. Then, I thought using the gold gingham ribbon would look nice but it seemed underwhelming. I spotted the rust ribbon, placed a bow on the lantern, and considered it. Yes, the rust-colored ribbon echoes the color of the pumpkins. It’s perfect!
Then, I remember the Halloween mantel and the bead garland. Wouldn’t some bead garland add to this display? The bead bin holds a bunch of dark brown and light wood beads. Threading the beads onto 1/8 – inch cream-colored satin ribbon takes no time. You’ll be surprised at how quickly this can be done!
The two bead garlands draped off-center, (like the Halloween mantel,) are the perfect complement. Do you have some beads sitting in a bin waiting to be used for a bead garland? The wood tones of these beads are perfect for fall. No paint is needed! Yeah!
