How to Design a Very Spooky Skeleton Mantel Display

This year, I definitely want to feature our skeleton infinity mirror on our spooky skeleton mantel display.

Bead Garland and Pennant

The silver bead garland is made from wooden beads painted silver and threaded onto a 1/4-inch ribbon.  The smaller pony beads are painted with shiny black paint and threaded onto a black 1/4-inch satin ribbon.
A few years ago, I designed the DIY Halloween Pennant you see in the picture above.   If you want to make your own, click the link above for step-by-step directions.

Black Creepy Cloth, Crows, and Silver Pumpkins

As I stood back and looked at the mantel, something was missing.  Then, I realized the mantel needed black creepy cloth!  Tucked under the books and held in place by the clear hooks on the mantel, the black cloth adds weight and interest to the base.  The netting also makes a contrasting background for the silver pumpkins.

A little silver spray paint transformed orange pumpkins to make these silver beauties.  The black crows are a nice contrast set in front of some of the silver pumpkins.

As I stood back and looked at the mantel, it seemed the beaded garland was not very visible.  Changing the drape of the garlands remedied that.

I love the ‘Welcome sign’, but the infinity mirror covers up a lot of the ‘Welcome’.  Pulling the bottom of the frame forward a little helped make it more visible.  Then, I raised the sign as high as possible.  Better, right?

A string of fairy lights, ten feet in length, draped across the mantel provides the final touch.
