Have you ever wondered how to decorate a bird skeleton for Halloween? I picked one up last year at Dollar Tree and just recently, a pin on Pinterest caught my eye. It made me laugh, and I knew I had to add this creepy bird skeleton to our Halloween decor.
It’s amazing how just a few minor additions to a skeleton can make such an interesting impact! This project is super simple!
You can find Melissa’s pin ◄ here. It’s the inspiration for this post.
The eyes on Melissa’s bird looked like flat marbles used for vase fillers, but those were too big for my bird skeletons. Hobby Lobby has 12 mm flat-back red rhinestones in its jewelry section.

- Bird Skeleton
- Black Boa
- 12 mm Clear Red Flat Back Beads
- Tacky Glue or Hot Glue
- Scissors
Directions:
First, glue the clear red beads into the eye sockets.
Position the end of the boa across one of the wings until you like how it looks.
There is a string down through the middle of the boa. To adhere the boa to the bird, glue that center string to the bird skeleton.
Use Tacky Glue or hot glue to adhere the boa to the end and the top of the wing at the shoulder. Then, drape the boa across the shoulders. Attach the boa to the shoulders with glue. Drape the boa, cut it, and glue it to the remaining wing.
If the boa is too dense, thin it out by cutting some of the feathers away.
That’s how simple it is to create one of these creepy birds!
