How to Make Christmas Mantel Decorations with Pool Noodles

Remember the autumnal mantel display created using pool noodles last month?  I really love this technique and decided to make Christmas mantel decorations using that same pool noodle base.

So, I carefully removed all of the autumn flowers and picks and draped a Christmas pine garland across the mantel and pool noodles.

Secure the Pine Garland

Pin poinsettias in the center and on each end.

Use floral pins to position and secure the pine garland to the pool noodle across the width of the mantel.

The Poinsettias

Begin placing the poinsettias across the mantel and use more floral pins to secure them in place.  Tuck the wispy silver stems under the poinsettias and secure them with floral pins.

Add Christmas Signs and Decorative Items

Then, add a festive Christmas sign and a red truck.  I needed to place a couple of books under the red truck so that it would be more visible.  The poinsettias were blocking the view.

Next, I placed the Santa bust on the opposite side.  One 18-inch and one 16.5-inch white bottle brush Christmas trees sit on either side of the signs, Santa, and the little red truck.

Fairy Lights

The finishing detail is a string of fairy lights draped over the poinsettias.

It’s surprising that this beautiful display began with pool noodles, isn’t it?
