This year, we have transformed our home with classic nutcracker décor. It all began with an eight-foot pop-up twinkling nutcracker from Sam’s Club. Here are some ways to use nutcrackers to add charm, tradition, and sophistication to your Christmas décor.

You can find the same nutcracker pop-up◄ here on Amazon. On the front door, we hung a nutcracker banner. I wasn’t sure how to attach the banner to the front door. It is metal. After a little research, I found magnetic hooks on Amazon.
These hold 10 – 30 pounds of weight and are about an inch long. The hooks screw into the magnet base. I used the hooks for the grommets on each corner. We get the north wind on the front side of the house. I placed just the base, without the hook, in the center of the top and bottom, and a couple along the sides. They aren’t noticeable, and they hold securely.

Family Room Fireplace Mantel
In the family room, we began with a pair of nutcracker soldiers to flank the fireplace mantel. A glittery silver wreath was set in the middle of the wall. Then, gold, white, and silver bottle brush trees are added to the mantel.
At this point, it seemed to need something more under the wreath. I remembered this ‘Joy to the World’ plaque, retrieved it, and placed it under the wreath. Another gold nutcracker stands opposite the reindeer.
On the hearth is a wooden lantern displaying two more golden nutcrackers.

Two little bright blue and silver nutcrackers are placed inside two gray metal lanterns that sit on the half-tables flanking the fireplace.

On the coffee table sits a tray with gold-wired trees, a gold-wired reindeer, a candle, and more nutcrackers.

The Kitchen Nutcrackers
Two metal nutcrackers stand on either side of a red “Believe” sign in the kitchen window. These we picked up at a store in northern Wisconsin a long time ago.

The Living Room Nutcrackers

My nutcracker collection began with the red nutcracker in the front of this tray. That was almost 50 years ago. My granddaughter, Memphis, contributed the PEZ Nutcracker to the collection.
The Dining Room Nutcrackers
Each year we have a food contest. We used to have a dessert contest, but some of the kids decided they would prefer to have an appetizer contest. We always serve appetizers at our Christmas party so that people can come and go when necessary. Getting everyone here for a sit-down dinner was too stressful.
We’ve been having the appetizer contest for a few years, and it definitely cuts down on food preparation for me!

A row of nutcrackers stands down the center of the table. Numbered cards are ready to be placed next to each appetizer entry. A stack of cards for scoring and pens for marking scores will sit on the table, too. I haven’t made the cards yet, but they will also feature nutcrackers.
This year it’s going to be a very Nutcrackery Christmas! (I just made that word up my own self.)
Be Social!
