Valentine’s Day DIY Triangular Mini Gift Box

Picture of 3 Triangular Valentine Gift Boxes.

Here’s another Valentine’s Day paper craft idea that’s sure to bring smiles!  With a few simple folds and a touch of creativity, you can create a delightful box that brings a smile when opened.   Decorate the top with a heartfelt message or glittery embellishments.  This charming craft is perfect for expressing love and affection in a unique and personal way.

I saw a little triangular gift box on Instagram.  It seemed to be a perfect idea for a Valentine’s Day treat box.  That box was decorated with heat embossing powder.  This is a simpler version of the box using decorative cardstock.

Directions:

Trace the template onto cardstock.
Trace the template onto cardstock.

First, print the template onto cardstock and cut it out.  I used a paper cutter to cut around the outside edges.  Then, I used sharp scissors to cut out the angled pieces.

Next, score the lines and fold inward on the scored lines.

Then, apply glue to the end flap and adhere it to the inside of the opposite end to create the triangular shape.

Close the bottom flaps by tucking one end of each flap under the end of the adjoining flap. The ends should alternate: over, under, over, under.

To glue the flaps together, I found that the easiest method is to slide the tip of the glue bottle under the ends and apply the glue. After that, I place the glue bottle inside the box to hold down the bottom until the glue sets.

Fill the box with chocolate candy hearts.  Then, close the top with the over-under technique.

Wrap butcher twine around the box and tie with a bow.  Clip a “Have a SWEET day!” heart cutout, or your sentiment, with a mini clothespin.  Who wouldn’t love receiving a little Valentine box like this?  These would be a perfect teacher’s gift, too.
