Your Christmas Tree Display
You have painstakingly done all the work and have a beautifully decorated Christmas tree display. Done, right? Wait! What about the wrapped presents? Are you wrapping them with just anything that you have? Do you have a cohesive look under your tree? Or do you have a disconnected bunch of gifts in every color and texture under the sun?
Maybe you instinctively coordinate your presents with your tree. This post might just encourage you to heighten that natural instinct and take it one step further.
The Presents Are Part of Your Christmas Tree Display
Now, how should you be wrapping your presents? Whether you realize it or not, your Christmas presents are part of your Christmas tree display! Whether your style is country, contemporary, primitive, or whatever it is, the gift display under it should echo that same style.

Prepare For Next Christmas!
Christmas 2018 is over but right now would be a great time to think ahead to your vision of your stunning tree next year. With all the sales at the end of the season, you will save big bucks! Now is the time to buy a whole new set of coordinating decorations, ribbons, and wrapping paper at a fraction of the cost. While you are at it, consider other projects for next year! If you are planning to make an ornament garland next year, now is the time to buy those clearance Christmas balls! Click here for how to►Ornament Garland.
Christmas Tree Display – Consider Your Style
You should consider the style of Christmas tree you are creating and then, purchase some wrapping paper to coordinate with that same color scheme and style. If your tree is a hodgepodge of different colored lights and ornaments, then, a hodgepodge of different colored papers would be fitting.
Maybe brown paper with twine would coordinate better with your decorated tree.
Remember that if you are decorating with pastel-colored ornaments, you don’t want bright red and deep purple wrapping paper. The colors from the tree should flow naturally to the gifts below.
Want a beautiful white tree with blue, pink, or red accents? Then, plan to wrap your gifts in white and use ribbons and bows in the chosen accent color. Maybe you want an all-white tree. Imagine all white gifts and bows under your tree!
However, if you want to create a more classic silver and gold tree with red accents, using shiny silver and gold paper with colorful red ribbons and bows just adds that designer touch.
Presents Are Part Of The Christmas Tree Display!
You see, the presents are just an extension of your tree. Realizing that and planning ahead will ensure that your tree will be stunning. There are so many different styles and colors you can choose, I couldn’t begin to list them all. The basic principle is the same. Match the look of your presents to the look of your tree. You can see in the picture above that the red ribbons and bows on the wrapped gifts mimic the swirl of the poinsettias.
Christmas Tree Display – Make Your Gift Wrap Special
This year, I wrapped all the presents using Japanese gift wrapping techniques. This is the most beautiful display we have ever had. After making the folds a few times, I began to get creative with them.
Wrapping a present with the silver and gold paper and no folds was the first step for this package. Then, I cut a contrasting paper, long enough to wrap completely around the box, fold on one end, and overlap the other. The contrasting strip of paper is folded, taped on the backside, and added to the box. A bow perpendicular to the contrasting folded paper is then added.
Two strips of contrasting gift wrap added to each side of the folds on this package call more attention to the folds. I think this is my favorite so far!
Christmas Tree Display – Gift Packaging Is Important!
These techniques are so simple after you understand them! Admit it! Although gift bags are easy for those who don’t want to take the time to wrap gifts, they can’t compare to the beauty of these wrapped gifts.
There are books on Japanese Gift Wrapping if you want more options than what I have shown here and in previous posts. Japanese Gift Wrapping Books. By using just this one technique, I have created a multitude of different looks! Can you imagine how many more you could create with a whole book on gift wrapping?
