French Yogurt Jars – 3 More Ideas
Don’t you just love these little yogurt jars? Here are three more ideas for you. Add these to your list for inspiration for repurposing these little jars.
#1 Glitter Vases From French Yogurt Jars
I love this little glitter vase! Doesn’t it just look elegant? This idea was inspired by a post on Wedding for 1000.com.

You will need empty and clean yogurt jars, Clear Gloss Mod Podge, a paintbrush, Washi tape, extra fine glitter, Krylon Glitter Sealer, ribbon, charms, and a glue gun.
Directions
First, wrap some Washi tape just under the rim of the jar. The yogurt jar is smaller at the top and gradually larger as it stretches to the bottom. The tape along the top edge might need pleating a little in places. That is not a problem but you don’t want pleats on the bottom edge. To make it easy to remove the tape, fold the end back on itself.
Paint the clear gloss Mod Podge, starting in the middle of the Washi tape, brushing away from the tape. This will lessen the chance of glue seeping under the tape.
Once the side of the jar is covered in Mod Podge, turn the jar on your fingers, and sprinkle fine glitter liberally over the glue. Make sure all of the wet Mod Podge is covered with glitter. If you are doing multiple jars, repeat for each of the jars. Remove the Washi tape and allow the jars to dry overnight.
Use Krylon Glitter Sealer to seal the glitter if you like and allow this to dry for 12 hours or overnight.
The sealer helps to keep the glitter on the jars and not on your hands. It enhances the color and sparkle but the best thing is that it prevents flaking. I wasn’t aware of this product until recently. This is a great idea if you are using these for reception tables! I would still hold them by the rim to be safe.
Wrap a piece of ribbon around the jar following the top edge of the jar, just under the rim. The post I read suggested cutting a test ribbon first and then, cutting the ribbons for other jars if you are making multiples. I personally, would rather glue one edge with a dot of glue, wrap the ribbon around it, place another dot of glue on the ribbon over the first, place the ribbon in the glue, and adjust it. Then trim both ends at an angle.
With Tacky Glue or a glue gun, attach the charm, button, or brad where the ribbon crosses in the front. I used a scrapbooking brad for this jar. If you use brads, first remove the tines from the back by snipping them off with a cutter. Add a tea light or a small votive candle. Isn’t this gorgeous? Imagine several of these shimmering candles as part of a tablescape.
#2 Transparent Stained Glass Jars
For this project, you will need yogurt jars, gel food coloring, Mod Podge gloss finish, a disposable plate or lid, a popsicle stick, a disposable chopstick, or something you can use to stir the Mod Podge.
Yes, you read that right, gel food coloring! These gels are used for more than coloring frosting. I used the gel food coloring for dyeing fabric, too! Click here► Easy Fabric Roses.
The Mod Podge with a matte finish dries semi-transparent and may look cloudy. You want the gloss, which gives a transparent stained glass look.
Directions
Pour some of the Mod Podge about a half-inch deep into the yogurt jar. Add a drop or two of food coloring, gently stir with the popsicle stick, add more coloring, and stir thoroughly until you achieve the depth of color you want. I used 4 drops of pink food coloring. (Be careful not to stir too vigorously creating air bubbles!)
This mixture will look opaque but will dry transparent. After you have everything mixed well, slowly roll the jar in your hands until the mixture completely covers and coats the inside of the jar.
Pour the excess out. Wipe any drips off the mouth of the jar, turn the jar upside down, and allow the excess to drain for about a half hour.
Place the jar upside down on a paper towel and firmly press down on the jar while you turn it, cleaning off excess on the rim. Turn the jar right side up, wipe off any remaining glue on the jar rim, and allow the Mod Podge to dry overnight.
You can add a little ribbon if you like or use it as is.
You, obviously, should not store or serve food in these containers. The Mod Podge is water-based and will dissolve or at least, loosen from the jar. If you plan to use this for flowers, you will need to use a smaller glass or plastic container for a liner. A shot glass sits nicely inside the jar.
French Yogurt Jars – Paper Napkin Decoupage
For this project, you will need a yogurt jar, paper napkins, Mod Podge, scissors, and a paintbrush. This tiny print is perfect for doing an overall design on the jar.
Directions
The first thing you will need to do is peel the top layer of the paper napkin away from the back layers. You will be using only the top layer with the design on it.
Paint Mod Podge over the bottom of the yogurt jar. Lay the middle of the napkin, right side up, over the bottom of the jar, and gently rub your finger over the top of the napkin pressing the paper into the glue.
Turn the jar over and begin making cuts from the outside toward the jar. You’ll want to cut away some of the napkin along the edges of the cuts you make. I try to have very little overlap.
To accomplish this, lay the napkin pie-shape down over the jar. Fold back the edge along the previous section. Then, trim off along the fold.
Paint a stripe of Mod Podge, lay the napkin strip on top of the glue, and rub gently into place with your finger.
Then, trim along the bottom edge of the jar rim with some small sharp scissors. I found it’s best to leave about a quarter to a half-inch at the top of the jar without glue to make it easier to trim. Glue the edge after cutting. The napkins cut better before it is wet with the glue.
Continue cutting and gluing until you’ve covered the outside edge of the jar.
It looks adorable like this but you can add a satin ribbon and tie a bow around the top if you like.

I can’t see any of the images–what am I doing wrong?
Hi, Gail! I’m so sorry you are having difficulties viewing the Oui jars. It’s not you! They were visible on my laptop but not on my phone! I googled the issue and after tweaking some settings, I think I’ve fixed the problem. Please try again and if it’s not fixed, please let me know. Thank you so much for letting me know!
Cute! Cute! Cute! Already saving jars. … BIG Question … How can those stuck-on-so-tight labels be removed easily. If you know a good way, please pass it on!! 😄
Gritsgirl from Georgia
Hi, Linda! When the Oui jars first showed up on the shelves here, it was difficult to remove the labels. They have changed the glue since then. I usually use a knife to lift up a corner and they peel off pretty easily. The labels come off much cleaner than they used to. A little Goo Gone takes off any remaining residue. Would love to see your creations!
You have the BEST ideas for Oui jars! Thank you for sharing.
