Man Crates – A Great Idea
Need a Father’s Day gift for that guy you love? How about a manly gift crate? Maybe you’ve seen the Man Crates available online now. (We aren’t an affiliate of Man Crates but I love their creative gifts.) I love their ideas and decided to order one for a Christmas gift but I was too slow. Back and forth, by the time my decision was made, the version I had selected was out of stock! Take note! Don’t wait until the last minute to order from them!
For a Father’s Day gift this year, about a month ago, I started picking up items for my grill master husband and the gift crate idea took shape. Knowing how much Dave loves to fish, you might ask why I didn’t make a Fisherman Crate. Well, I tried that years ago and clearly have no idea which lures and tackle are the best. Just because they look pretty, doesn’t equate to attracting fish. I’ll leave that to the experts.
How To Make Your Own Manly ‘Grill Master’ Gift Crate

The first thing need is a crate. You can find these in a variety of different sizes at the local craft store. Knowing that I want to include some long-handled utensils and some long skewers, this crate is 19 x 12.5 x 9.5.[ctt template=”8″ link=”44omd” via=” no” ]The great thing about making your own personalized gift crate is that you can add things that your own special guy doesn’t already have.[/ctt]
Next, choose some items for the crate. I found some of the items for this crate at Hobby Lobby and Tuesday Morning but I’ve included Amazon links to the same or similar items in the list below. 10 Gift Ideas For A ‘Grill Master’ Crate
# 1. Grill Master Cup – This cup is from Hobby Lobby but I’ve linked to some Grill Master cups on Amazon. What guy can’t use another coffee cup?
#2. Oven Silicone Mitts – Wouldn’t these be beneficial for removing the ceramic grilling pan #3 and the saucepan from the grill?
#3. Ceramic Grilling Pan – Dave likes to grill fish. This will make it so much easier to grill those and in addition, it will be a cinch to grill vegetables.
#4. Char-Broil non-stick Bean and Saucepan – Couldn’t find any of these on Amazon but you might consider this saucepan with a basting brush. If your guy loves to add sauce, this would be perfect.
#5. Stainless Steel 14 – inch Skewers – We have some stainless steel skewers but on occasion have needed more. These are much better than wooden skewers when grilling. You don’t have to worry about soaking them in water and burning them.
#6. Basting Brush – This is a long-handled basting brush, which might be advisable with a hot grill. 🤔
#7. Char-Broil Cool Clean Nylon Bristle Grill Brush – You know these grill brushes wear out after awhile. If he doesn’t need it now, it won’t be long before he does. This one is dual handled.
#8. Grill Spatula – A long-handled spatula lets him keep his fingers away from the heat.
#9. McCormick’s Montreal Steak Seasoning – Add a big container of his favorite seasoning. You can order this from Amazon through this link. We usually buy this from Sam’s Warehouse.
#10. Cuisinart Shredding Claws – Grab and lift meat from the grill and make shredding meat easy.
Packing The Crate
This pack of tissue paper is from Tuesday Morning. It looked manly to me. Sophie suggested black tissue paper and that seems like a great idea for this crate. The flashy gold and silver stripe on this paper caught my eye. It’s just a little more interesting than plain black paper.
Loosely wrap the gifts and place in the crate, heavy items on the bottom. Then, hold a sheet of tissue paper in the middle and create a funnel-shape. Place around the gifts to fill in the empty spaces.
Grill Master Label
Using PicMonkey, I created a label for the crate. Feel free to download and print this label or your own personal use. Just print it out on cardstock and cut the label down to size leaving a white border around the thin black outer line.
Cut a 1″ slit in the middle of the borderline on each end of the label. Use some 1″ black ribbon to thread through the slits on each end. Hold the right end of the ribbon and wrap just one-quarter-inch of the ribbon around one edge and glue to the back edge.
Position the label in the middle of the front. I added a little dab of cool melt glue on the edges to hold the ribbon on all four corners. Cut the end of the ribbon straight and glue along the back edge overlapping slightly where the ribbon ends meet.
You can imagine that this grilling crate is a welcome gift for that special guy who has or aspires to have some grilling skills. It is easy to create one of these for whatever interests your man has. Time is running out but you can quickly create a crate of your own!
