These adorable glitter beach votives or vases were inspired by a rope craft pin on Pinterest. As soon as I saw it, the idea of trying it on the adorable Oui yogurt jars came to mind!
Glitter Votives From French Yogurt Jars
Remember this little glitter vase I made last year? Doesn’t it just look elegant? This idea was inspired by a post on Wedding for 1000.com. You can find the directions for the gold glitter jar ◄ here.
Remember the little sea glass yogurt jar? Well, just imagine you married the glitter jar and the sea glass jar. It might look like this beach-inspired glitter votive. You can find the directions for the Sea glass yogurt jar◄ here.

Beach-Inspired Glitter Votives or Vases From Oui French Yogurt Jars

For this project, you will need empty and clean Oui yogurt jars, Clear Gloss Mod Podge, a paintbrush, Washi tape, extra fine glitter, Krylon Glitter Sealer, 1/4-inch rope cording, Tacky Glue, seashells, and a glue gun. (I think the glitter used in this project is from Michael’s but the link above links to a similar sky blue glitter.)
Votives Directions
First, wrap some Washi tape just under the rim of the jar. The yogurt jar is smaller at the top and gradually larger as it stretches to the bottom. The tape along the top edge might need pleating a little in places. That is not a problem but you don’t want pleats on the bottom edge. To make it easy to remove the tape, fold the end back on itself.
Paint the clear gloss Mod Podge, starting in the middle of the Washi tape, brushing away from the tape. This will lessen the chance of glue seeping under the tape.
Once the side of the jar is covered in Mod Podge, put your fingers inside the opening and turning the jar on your fingers, sprinkle fine glitter liberally over the glue. Make sure all of the wet Mod Podge is covered with glitter. If you are doing multiple jars, repeat for each of the jars. Remove the Washi tape and allow the jars to dry overnight.
Seal With Glitter Sealer
At this point, use Krylon Glitter Sealer to seal the glitter if you like and allow this to dry for 12 hours or overnight.
The sealer helps to keep the glitter on the jars and not on your hands. It enhances the color and sparkle but the best thing is that it prevents flaking. I wasn’t aware of this product until recently. This is a great idea if you are using these for reception tables! I would still hold them by the cording to be safe.
Applying The Cording To The Votives
Wrap a piece of cording around the jar following the top edge of the jar, just under the rim. Glue one end with a dot of glue. Then, dot Tacky Glue all around the top edge of the jar and press the cording into the glue.
Trim the end with sharp scissors and apply glue to the end, and overlap. Don’t worry too much about how it looks. The Seashell will cover the beginning and the end of the coil.
With Tacky Glue or a glue gun, attach the seashell to cover the cording ends in the front.

Add a tea light or small votive candle. Isn’t this gorgeous? Imagine several of these shimmering candles as part of a tablescape. They would be a perfect addition to the decor at a beach wedding, wouldn’t they?
