We have been on vacation. Fort Myers Beach Florida is one of my new favorite vacation spots. Your family will love it, too. We booked a condo on Estero Boulevard through Vrbo for our Ft. Myers vacation. You may remember that we spent a week on Dauphin Island back in June. Ft. Myers is totally different, but I love the beach, don’t you?
Since the condo we rented is on the second floor, we had a beautiful view of the beach from the window. This is one of the panoramic views we enjoyed from the patio chairs outside our door. A cup of coffee and this view is a perfect beginning to any day…

Pirate Cruise
We watched the pirate ship sail by several times throughout the week. Although we didn’t take the pirate cruise, we enjoyed watching the ship sail by. Six-year-old Memphis was excited to see the ship from shore. When she saw this picture, she was agitated. She exclaimed, “They’re just people!”
Then, I pointed out that there were pirates on the boat, too. Lol!
Parasailing
We watched so many people parasailing every day. Although I haven’t tried this yet, if I can convince Dave to go, too, I’d like to try it once! In the meantime, it’s fun just to watch them from the shore as they sail across the ocean.
You can see Coast Guard boats, sailboats, motorboats, and jet skis on any given day. There is a lot of water activity you can participate in or just enjoy watching from shore.
Fort Myers Beach Birds
Above is a willet. There are plenty of these along the water’s edge. Don’t you love the snowy egret with his bright yellow feet?
If you enjoy sea birds, there are plenty all along the coast. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a cormorant! Notice the little hook on the end of his beak.
Shopping At Fort Myers Beach
On Estero Boulevard and Old San Carlos, there are lots of little shops. A multitude of colorful shops, including Mango Bay, The Sandal Factory Outlet, Winds, many others, and my favorite, The Pier Peddler. The Pier Peddler has island clothing. Aside from adult clothing, they have some really cute clothes for little boys and girls.
Restaurants
Pinchers
On our way to our condominium, we passed Pinchers on San Carlos Blvd. We made a mental note of this place and later headed back to have dinner. I can tell you that the shrimp scampi is very good! Everyone else seemed to be happy with their meal, too.
Doc Ford’s Rum Bar And Grill
Dave caught sight of Doc Ford’s on our way in and he decided we need to try it one night and so we did.
Texas Baby Back Ribs
Dave ordered a full rack of baby back ribs basted with our one-of-a-kind BBQ sauce served with roasted garlic smashed potatoes and the house slaw. He said the ribs and the sauce were some of the best he had ever had.
Penne with Shrimp
I ordered the sautéed deep water “lobster shrimp”, penne pasta, Roma tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic, and avocados tossed with a citrus cream sauce and shredded Parmesan cheese. This dish is excellent. I’ve never had lobster shrimp before. I’m not sure exactly what that is but it is delicious!
Well, it was so good the first night, we went back a second night. We took my cousin Marge and her husband Jim who came down from Riverview, Florida to visit for a couple of days.
Dry Rubbed Ribeye
Dave ordered the ribeye with roasted garlic and Parmesan mashed potatoes, caramelized mushrooms, asparagus, and a roasted bleu cheese tomato surrounded by a caramelized red onion demi sauce.
Colombian Coffee Rubbed Pork Tenderloin
I ordered the Pork Tenderloin. The pan-seared pork tenderloin dusted with a blend of coffee and spices served with a sweet corn puree, tropical plantains, and chayote squash is so good!
The service here was great and we highly recommend Doc Fords.
The Fort Myers Beach
The condo we rented only had 19 units. The beach right outside is not crowded. We love that! Farther down the beach, closer to the pier, the beaches are much more crowded. Keep that in mind when you are booking your vacation.
Fortunately, as the day winds down, people pack up their umbrellas, canopies, chairs, and all of their toys so you can enjoy the beach view with no obstruction.
It was with regret that we packed up and left early Saturday morning. The week just flew by too fast!
