Not everyone loves traditional shower games. In fact, my daughters find those games annoying. After doing some research on Pinterest, I settled on these three ideas for activities versus the baby shower games for our upcoming party.
You see, my son and daughter-in-law are having a baby boy in September. They’ve decided to name him Ripley and little Lane calls him the Ripster. We are anxiously awaiting his arrival.
Activities for a Fishing Themed Baby Shower
#1 – Address Thank-You Envelopes
(We are an Amazon affiliate and may receive a small percentage of any sales through the links in this post at no cost to you. Thanks for supporting this website!)
This is an activity that is so simple, and yet, so helpful to the busy mom-to-be. As guests arrive, encourage them to write their addresses on an envelope, which will ultimately hold a Thank-You card.
It’s easy to purchase Thank-You cards for this, but I made up some to coordinate with the invitations and signs I made. You can make your own envelopes, too, using this We R Memory Keepers Punch Board. Make the envelopes 4 x 5 -inches to go with the cards here ►
After everyone has filled out her envelope, the mom-to-be draws one from the pile. That lucky lady is the winner and receives a prize. I usually give a gift card to the winner.
#2 Late Night Diapers Baby Shower Activity
If you have had a baby, you probably remember those exhausting nights getting up with a newborn. Imagine how a little message can put a smile on a tired new mom or dad’s face! Write something uplifting, supportive, silly, sweet, or just plain funny.
For this activity, you will need permanent-colored Sharpie markers and newborn or size 1 diapers.
You can print a list of ideas for ‘Late Night Diapers’ like this to give ideas to your guests.
Late Night Diapers sign:
Display the diapers and the markers in a basket. It’s easy to transport it to a table. Notice the jars holding the Sharpie markers are empty Oui yogurt jars. Don’t you love these little jars? They come in so handy! Click here► for more ideas for using them.
These are a few of the finished products. Hopefully, they bring a smile to Will and Abby’s faces.
#3 Decorate Onesies Baby Shower Activity
You can make signs to display with your activities. You may remember the sign holders from the bridal shower we had a few years ago. I’m using them again.
Onesie Decorating Sign:
We have several artistic people in our family and this idea seems like a perfect activity. Being artistic is not a necessity though.
Considering those who might not feel as talented, I offered some stencils, quilt templates, and some suggestions.
For this activity, you will need permanent-colored fabric markers and onesies. I bought two packs of these fabric markers and three different sizes of Gerber onesies, newborn, 3 – month, and 6 – month sizes.
You don’t want the markers bleeding through to the back side of the onesies. So, cut foam board into rectangular shapes. For the newborn size, I cut 5 – 1/2 x 9 and for the 3- and 6-month sizes, cut 6 – 1/4 -inches x 9-1/4 – inches.
Results of the Onesie Decorating
Everyone seemed to enjoy the activity. Here are some of the results. You just never know what you’re going to get when you introduce an activity like this…
And the big sister, big brother, and cousin got in on the activity and decorated onesies, too.
Yes, afterward, I created one for little Ripley, too.
This is one of my favorite baby shower ideas ever.
Fishing Baby Shower Favors
(We are an Amazon affiliate and may receive a small percentage of any sales through the links in this post at no cost to you. Thanks for supporting this website!)
This isn’t exactly an activity, but I’ve included the shower favors in this post. It’s always nice to give a little gift to your baby shower guests. Who can’t use shower gel and a loofah?
After a morning of shopping locally from one store to another, for little bottles of shower gel, to no avail, I found this set on Amazon. The bottles of bath and shower gel come 8 to a box and are a generous 3.5 fluid ounces. The loofah puffs come 4 to a pack, weigh a generous 60 grams and are about 5.9 inches in width.
To wrap these up nicely, I ordered Wilton Party Bags. The description says ‘cellophane’ but it’s not that stiff cellophane. We’ve used these before for cookies and treats. They do come in handy. Silver twist ties are included with the bags.
Creating the little tags is easy on PicMonkey or your favorite editing and design program. You can find the fish on these graphics on PicMonkey.
A metal tub is perfect for displaying the little favors.
