The sweet and tangy flavor of the apricot perfectly complements the rich and creamy goat cheese. It’s easy to make and with just a few simple ingredients and minimal prep time, you have a tasty appetizer. Moreover, it can be served at room temperature or cold, making it versatile for any season or setting.
Although you can serve this as finger food, I like presenting it with a little cocktail fork. You know how sticky honey can be. Although you can surely have napkins handy, the little fork is perfect and adds to the presentation.
The presentation is beautiful and elegant and is sure to impress your guests. If you have friends with dietary restrictions, this appetizer is both gluten-free and vegetarian.
I found the idea for this simple appetizer from Genevieve at She Keeps a Lovely Home. She serves several of these on a rectangular platter, but I’m serving these on individual appetizer plates.
Apricot and Goat Cheese Appetizer
Ingredients:
- Dried apricots
- Goat cheese
- Walnut halves
- Honey
- Fresh thyme for garnish
Directions:
First, lay apricots onto individual serving plates.
Top each apricot with 1/2 teaspoon goat cheese. It’s best to let the goat cheese come to room temperature. If the goat cheese is cold, it will crumble instead of coming out of the spoon in a nice dollop.
Gently press a walnut half into the cheese.
Drizzle each with honey.
Garnish with a little fresh thyme.
Whether you’re hosting a fancy dinner party or just looking for a quick and easy snack, this easy-to-make appetizer is sure to please. You can also experiment with different types of cheese, such as feta or blue cheese, to create a variation of the dish.
