This is such an easy decorative DIY Valentine Sign. Dollar Tree Valentine Decorations are so inexpensive! The base is a LOVE sign from Dollar Tree! While you can paint the base, Valentine’s Day Cardstock makes a lovely decorative sign and the process is quick and easy.

The great thing about the cardstock in a paper pad or Valentine’s pack is that you don’t have to worry about coordinating colors and papers. They all coordinate!

Dollar Tree Valentine Decorations
Supplies Needed:
- Dollar Tree Wooden Love sign
- Valentine’s Cardstock pack
- Tacky Glue or Mod Podge
- Flat paintbrush
- Paper cutter and, or, scissors
- Mechanical pencil
- Glue gun
- Tulle
- Ribbon
Directions:
Make the Cardstock Letters
The first thing to do is trace around the letters onto plain white cardstock. I used tracing paper. While you can use tracing paper, it is much easier to trace around cardstock since it is more stable.
Then, decide which letters you want to be seen completely. Lots of people make the ‘O’ completely visible. I finished the ‘L’ and the ‘V’ using a metal ruler and a mechanical pencil. The ‘O’ appears to be behind the ‘L’ and the ‘V’.
Next, cut out the letters using a paper cutter and, or, scissors.
Then, trace the letters onto the decorative cardstock and cut them out, too.
Glue the Cardstock Letters to the Sign
After cutting out each of the letters, lay them on the sign, making sure they line up correctly.
Next, hold the ‘O’ letter in place and mark each side where the ‘O’ should be lined up and glued.
Apply white glue or Mod Podge to the ‘O’ inside the lines you drew. I used a flat paintbrush to smooth out the glue. Then place the cardstock cutout on top and smooth the cardstock with your fingers.
Glue the other letters in place. Notice that I also cut a heart slightly larger than the heart in the ‘O’ from a gingham pattern and glued it to the back of the sign covering the hole.
Embellish the Sign
After you have all of the letters and the heart in place, decide how you want to embellish your sign. I cut a piece of tulle and felt it wasn’t quite enough. So, I cut another piece of the same size and doubled it.
Then, I just wrapped the tulle around the twine hanger and tied an overhand knot. Initially, I had planned on only adding a bow made from sheer ribbon. It seemed a little unimpressive. So I made a double bow from grosgrain ribbon, too.
A little hot glue on the back of the knots holds the bows in place.
The sign hangs on a black bar in the kitchen window with the velvet heart and wood bead garland and a simple paper heart banner.
