Supplies
- Dollar Tree wire heart wreath frame
- Dollar Tree Valentine tinsel garland
- Scissors
- black pipe cleaners
- additional decorative elements
- Valentine wired ribbon
- Needlenose pliers
- Drill
Directions

First, create a sturdy loop for easy installation. I used two black pipe cleaners to create a loop that fits over the door hanger. As an alternative, you can make one with a ribbon.
Begin by attaching the end of the tinsel garland to the wireframe at the indentation at the top of the heart. This tinsel is wired making it easy to just wrap the wire end around the wire frame and secure it.
Wrap the garland tinsel around the frame to the bottom of the heart. Secure the end of the garland by wrapping the wire around the wire on the heart wreath frame.
Repeat the process with the second garland until you cover the entire wire frame.

Make a bow from the wired ribbon and attach it to the wreath. Then, add any additional decorations, ornaments, or flowers to personalize your wreath.
Ornaments on a String
My trip to the Dollar Tree was a little late in the Valentine season. Everything has been picked over.
However, I picked up some marked down decorative Valentine hearts on sticks and one hanging ornament at Hobby Lobby. You may be able to find ornaments that are easy to attach to string. These needed a little tweaking.

Prepare the Ornaments
These ornaments are made of MDF. The stick was easy to remove from the smallest heart, but I had to use the needlenose pliers to remove the black stick. I used the pliers to twist the wire hanger on the round ornament and form a little wire loop at the top.
Drill a small hole at the top of the hearts.

String the Ornaments Together and Add Beads
Cut a generous length of string, remembering that the thread is doubled. Thread the string through the drilled hole at the top of the smallest heart and pull the ends together creating a doubled thread. Add beads to the string.
TIP - I use a little Tacky Glue on the ends of the string and twirl it with my fingers to slightly decrease the size of the end. Then, let the glue set up to harden. It makes it easier to thread through the beads.
Next, thread one end of the string through the hole in the front of the middle-sized heart and the other end through the back. Tie an overhand knot at the top to hold the heart in place.
Drill a hole in the round Valentine ornament at the base. Then, thread the doubled string through the hole and tie a double knot.

Thread the string through the wire loop at the top of the hanger.

You can slip the thread through the tinsel and around the wire frame with your fingers. However, it’s much simpler to do this with a large needle! Just thread the strings through and around the base wire and tie a double knot to hold the string in place.
A few of the larger tinsel hearts on the wreath didn’t seem to be necessary, didn’t add anything, and were a little distracting. I clipped those off with scissors.
