A Taste Of The Holidays
Many years ago, I attended a special fundraiser, “A Taste Of The Holidays”, at one of the local community churches. Creole Green Beans were on the menu at this event. It was the fifth year of the event but I had never been to one of these tasting parties before. Let me tell you, it was well worth the time. The ladies at the church handed out a small handmade book of recipes for everyone to take home. Everyone was served a small helping of each of the dishes made using the recipes in the book.

Creole Green Beans From A Humble Cookbook
Some of my family’s favorite dishes come from the recipes in this humble little book. My favorite recipe in this book is ‘Creole Green Beans’. We used to have these at Christmas but we have since given up on having a sit-down dinner and having a day of appetizers instead. So, I make this easy dish for Thanksgiving now. This was the first time I had been to an event like this! Am I ever glad I went! These are two of the recipes from that little cookbook. We have been serving these dishes for over 30 years now and they are two of my favorites.
My daughter Tiffany is adept at making the sour cream potatoes from this book and brings these to our family gatherings now. It is nice to have help from my girls!

Microwave and cook the green beans to al dente and place them in a 2-quart casserole dish.
Combine the remaining ingredients and pour over the beans. Prepare the night before, then, cover, and refrigerate overnight to allow the flavors to blend.
Remove the cover and bake at 350° for 35 – 40 minutes until hot and bubbling. Serve hot.
*I changed the original recipe slightly. Instead of using canned green beans, I use fresh or frozen. You can substitute 2 cans of green beans if you like.
This is such an easy dish to make and it tastes so good, perfect for a potluck dish. As I put it together for our Thanksgiving feast, I am so relieved it can be made the night before! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

What a great idea for a party handing out a recipe booklet of the dishes and serving a little of everything to guests. Must remember this idea! As for your recipe, I like the twist on a traditional green bean casserole! I definitely want to give this a try. Thanks for the recipe 🙂 Pinned
Oh, my gosh, Marie! Brilliant! I love that idea, too. Why have I never thought of that? Lol! Thanks for pinning!
