Directions:

Cut an Angel

First, use your Cricut to cut an angel from Cricut silver vinyl shimmer.  I found this angel on the Cricut site under images.

The wonderful thing about using the Cricut is that you can increase or decrease the size of the angel to your liking.  For these Oui jars, I shrunk the size of the angel to 2 inches tall.  The width doesn’t matter, but the height does.

Next, leaving excess, cut around the angel.  Remove the background to reveal the angel.

Place the transfer tape on top of the angel cutout and use a scraper tool to press the transfer tape onto the angel.  Carefully remove the vinyl backing.  The adhesive side of the angel should now be facing you.

Carefully, center the angel on the transfer paper to the side of the Oui jar.  Once again, use the scraper tool to smooth the transfer tape over the jar and adhere the vinyl angel to the jar.

Gently peel the backing from one side and completely away from the silver angel and the jar.

Washi Tape

Next, wrap some Washi tape just under the rim of the jar. The yogurt jar is smaller at the top and gradually larger as it stretches to the bottom.  The tape along the lower edge might need cutting a little in places to accommodate the jar’s gradual increase in size.   Fold the end back on itself to make it easy to remove the tape.  Repeat on the bottom of the jar.

The Washi tape works well because it isn’t strong enough to pull the vinyl cutout from the jar.

Applying Glitter

Apply Mod Podge with a flat paintbrush, starting in the middle of the Washi tape, and brushing away from the tape.  This will lessen the chance of glue seeping under the tape.

Once the strip on the jar is covered in Mod Podge, turn the jar on your fingers, and sprinkle fine glitter liberally over the glue.   Make sure all of the wet Mod Podge is covered with glitter.

Repeat for the bottom.

If you are doing multiple jars, repeat for each of the jars.  Remove the Washi tape and allow the jars to dry.

Spray on Krylon Glitter Sealer to seal the glitter if you like and allow this to dry for 12 hours or overnight.

The sealer helps to keep the glitter on the jars and not on your hands.  It enhances the color and sparkle but the best thing is that it prevents flaking.  I wasn’t aware of this product until recently.  This is a great idea if you are using these for dining tables!  I would still hold them by the rim to be safe.

Sprinkle a little bit of faux snow in the bottom of the jar.  Add a tea light or a small votive candle.  Isn’t this gorgeous?  Imagine several of these shimmering candles as part of a tablescape.

First, use your Cricut to cut a snowflake from Cricut silver vinyl shimmer.  I found this snowflake on the Cricut site under images.  There are a multitude of them available.    Remember to decrease the size to 2 inches tall.

Paint the French Glass Yogurt Jar

Place the Oui jar upside down on a piece of cardboard outside.  (You don’t want to asphyxiate yourself.)  Spray the outside of the Oui pot with Rustoleum Specialty Frosted Glass.  Spray a light coat of paint back and forth around the entire jar.  Wait a couple of minutes and spray another light coat.

Repeat spraying the frosted glass paint on the Oui jar until you have the look you want.  Allow the paint to dry for 5 – 10 minutes.  You can see the difference between the clear glass on the angel votive and the frosted Oui jar in the photo above.

Apply the Vinyl Angel

First, use your Cricut to cut a snowflake from Cricut silver vinyl shimmer.  I also found this snowflake on the Cricut site under images.

For these Oui jars, remember to decrease the size of the snowflake to 2 inches tall.  Remember that the width doesn’t matter, but the height does.

Cut around the snowflake leaving excess vinyl backing.  Peel the vinyl background off around the snowflake.  Lay the transfer tape on top of the snowflake and use your scraper to press it onto the snowflake.

Set the snowflake on the side of the jar.  Leave more room at the top so you have room for a ribbon.  Then, use the scraper to press the snowflake onto the jar.

Tie a pretty ribbon around the top of the jar and tie a bow.  Then, spoon a little faux snow in the bottom of the jar.  Set the votive on top of the snow.
