  You will seriously quit buying brownie mixes after making this simple fudgy brownies recipe!  This recipe is so easy, and it beats the box mix by leaps and bounds!  Yes, this has been my go-to recipe for brownies for years. The brownie is so fudgy rich, and the simple chocolate fudge frosting is the perfect topper.

    This is one of those recipes you can make before you go to work in the morning, quickly and easily.  Can it get any better than that?  The simple ingredients are always in my cupboard for emergencies.  I am a chocoholic, if you are, too, you understand.

       Fudgy Brownies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2-ounces unsweetened chocolate squares
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour

 Directions:

*Grease an 8″x 8″ x 2″ square baking pan and set it aside.  

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and chocolate over low heat.

Stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.

 Using a spoon, beat lightly by hand just until combined.

Stir in the flour.

Pour into 8 x 8-inch square pan

Pour into a prepared pan.  Bake in a 350° oven for 25 minutes.

Fudge Frosting  

 In a saucepan, cook and stir 3 tablespoons of butter, 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 2 tablespoons of milk, until it comes to a boil.  (The butter and chocolate will separate.)  Remove from heat and stir in 1- 1/2 cups of powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla.

 Spread on warm brownies, let cool (if you can wait!), and serve.

TIP

* Tip – I use Quick Release Reynold’s Wrap to line my 8 x 8″ square pan.    After the brownies cool, just lift from the pan, fold down the foil, cut the brownies and there is no struggling to get them out of the pan – perfect squares every time!
