Our Valentine’s Day Decor is up now. Several decorations included are from past Valentine decor crafts you can find right here on the blog. There are links to those step-by-step directions at the end of this post.
But first, here is an idea for decorating a glass cloche for Valentine’s Day.
Glass Cloche Valentine’s Day Decor
For this project, I used the Valentine with a stand from Hobby Lobby. I wish there were one with a sewing theme since I’ve used old buttons, vintage wooden spools, and an old needle threader. You can’t always find what you imagine.
I also found the Valentine stickers at Hobby Lobby.
We didn’t have any wooden dowels on hand. So, after brainstorming, I came up with the idea to use a decorative straw. It just so happened that the red and white striped straw was in a package of Patriotic straws from Dollar Tree.
The buttons covering the base are from a collection I’ve saved for many years. If you don’t have a collection, there’s a link for red and pink buttons on Amazon.

Supplies Needed:
- Glass cloche
- Valentine with stand
- Decorative straw
- Vintage wooden spools
- 1/2 and 1/8 inch Red satin ribbon
- Red and pink buttons
- Vintage needle threader
- Red cardstock
- Tacky Glue
- Glue gun and Glue sticks
- Paper Cutter or scissors
- Scoring board
- We R Memory Keepers Tag Punch Board
Directions:
First, make a paper rosette from red cardstock. I’ve used a scoring board, which makes it very easy. Directions for making a paper rosette with a scoring board can be found on this post for a ► DIY Christmas wreath.
However, it’s not absolutely necessary to have a scoring board. You can find step-by-step directions for making rosettes without a scoring board◄ in this post.
Use a glue gun to attach the straw to the paper rosette. Cut the straw to a length that will work with your composition.
Next, cut a strip of decorative Valentine cardstock to decorate the wrap around the smaller wooden spool. Use Tacky Glue to overlap the cardstock and glue the end of the cardstock.
Placing the Items
Place the three main pieces in the glass base. You can see the Valentine stand in the picture below. Before I found this, I planned to create some kind of a base for a flat Valentine.
The base for this cloche is glass. After positioning the three main items, I used a glue gun to squeeze a dab of glue onto the glass base under the stand.
I struggled with what third element to add to the Valentine and the pinwheel rosette – thread spool. The other night, I woke up at 2:30 and thought of the mid-century needle threader. Miraculously, I remembered where it was. The red and white combination is perfect for this display, too.
Place the red and pink buttons around the Valentine, needle threader, and spool base. Then, place the cloche dome on the base.
The Tag
To make the tag, I used a We R Memory Keepers tag punch board. This makes it quick and easy to create a tag and punch a hole.
Thread the tails of the red 1/8 inch ribbon into the tag hole and make a lark’s head knot, leaving enough length on the tails to tie around the dome knob. Then, tie the tag around the knob.
Valentine’s Day Decor in the Dining Room
The dining room chandelier is perfect for displaying 3-D beaded Valentine hearts.
Valentine Mantel
Over the years, I’ve picked up Valentine’s decorations from local craft stores. In addition to these, I’ve added my DIY wooden blocks and easy-to-make heart garland.
Valentine’s Day Decor In the Kitchen
Velvet hearts and wood bead garland decorate the rod above the kitchen window. The DIY Valentine Sign – Easy Dollar Tree Valentine Decoration hangs in the center of the rod. Links to these how-to’s are at the bottom of this post.
Rag Quilt Valentine Heart Runner
The rag quilt Valentine heart runner I made a few years ago is displayed on the kitchen table.
From heart-shaped garlands to 3-D beaded Valentine hearts, each decoration has been crafted with love and attention to detail, bringing a warm and festive atmosphere to our humble home.
No matter how you choose to decorate, the key is to infuse your space with elements that reflect your own style and the love you wish to share with others. Below are links to directions for making your versions of the crafts I’ve shared. Happy crafting!
