Although we watch lots of Christmas movies over the holidays, this year, I thought it would be fun to start a new tradition and host the first Christmas Movie Marathon. The grandkids can spend the night. We’ll have some food, drinks, and popcorn, hang out in our jammies and watch movies for hours. Parents can hang out with us or go do some Christmas shopping.
This is day six of our Festive Christmas Blog Hop.
Welcome back to year 6 of our Festive Christmas Event where we team up with a bunch of talented blogging friends to bring you a plethora of creative ways to celebrate your holiday season. We will be baking some cookie recipes for you, sharing some party games, making some handmade gifts, doing some ornament crafting, and sharing our Christmas movies family fun. There will be breakfast recipes and as always our decorated Christmas Trees which is always a fun tour of homes. New this year is Gift Guides. We are right there with you shopping from home due to Covid 19 and we understand how hard that can be so we have been busy little Elves doing tons of research to create fabulous Gift Guides to help you with your holiday shopping. You will find new ideas every Monday and Wednesday between Oct. 19th through Nov. 18th. Scroll all the way down to find all the ideas linked at the end.
Christmas Movies
The first thing to do is to take a survey and find out the favorite movies of each family member. There are so many I love but my favorite is A Christmas Story or maybe Christmas Vacation. Then, maybe Ernest Saves Christmas is the one. Ohhh! It’s too hard to choose!
(We are an Amazon affiliate and may receive a small percentage of any sales through the links in this post at no cost to you. Thanks for supporting this website!)
Anyway, after polling, the family’s top 10 favorites are:
- Elf
- Home Alone
- It’s A Wonderful Life
- A Christmas Story
- A Charlie Brown Christmas
- Christmas Vacation
- How The Grinch Stole Christmas
- The Santa Clause
- Christmas With The Kranks
- Ernest Saves Christmas
Okay, Ernest Saves Christmas was not on their list, but I love any Ernest movie. It’s on my list! My favorite Jim Varney movie is Ernest Scared Stupid. Don’t judge me! Lol!
We’ve enjoyed these movies, but I have a few more of the top ten to pick up before this Christmas movie marathon! These movies are great for all ages and aren’t the sappy Hallmark love stories. Any of the movies on this list are perfect for Christmas gift-giving, too.
Food For The Christmas Movie Marathon
Since this is going to be a movie marathon, having some food that will stick to your ribs is a good idea.
A hearty soup is perfect for this get together. One of our favorites is this Beef Vegetable Soup. ◄ Click here for the recipe. It actually sounds good right now! Another option to make it simple is to order pizzas. A few pizzas with different toppings on each will entice every taste. In addition, we’ll have lots of popcorn, of course, a variety of drinks, and a cheese tray with lots of fresh fruit.
Popcorn Boxes For All
You’ll want to serve the popcorn in a popcorn box. I bought some plastic popcorn boxes ◄ like these a few years ago. We use them for popcorn all of the time. You can buy the disposable boxes but the plastic ones last for years. Follow me on Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook so you won’t miss anything! I would love for you to share this post with your friends! They need amazing Christmas party ideas and movie gift ideas too! Pin it! It only takes a second!

How to Plan an Epic Christmas Movie Night
I love all of these movies and I try to watch them in rotation during the end of November and December. I watch Christmas with the Karnak multiple times, it’s a great storyline. I love veggie soup, I made some last weekend myself. Great post!
Thank you, Leslie! I’m looking forward to watching all of these again.
My hubby also enjoys the Ernest movies. Your list is very similar to mine. We will be watching the same movies and I’m ready to begin!
Then, Shirley, you and your husband clearly have impeccable taste!
How The Grinch Stole Christmas is definitely on our list to watch with the grands this holiday season. Great list!
The Grinch is a must! Dr. Seuss is one of my favorite authors.
Mmmm, soup sounds good and the movies you chose are perfect for a marathon!
Thank you, Tania! My youngest son is not a fan of vegetable soup but I made this when he was young and he loves it. He called it that green bean vegetable soup. I’m looking forward to enjoying these with the kids.
You picked some good choices!! Thanks so much for linking up with me at my #UnlimitedMonthlyLinkParty 18, open until November 26. Shared.
Who can go wrong with these classics? Thanks for visiting, Dee!
